The Scottish Wild Beaver Group are very sorry to hear of the death of Eddie Palmer.

Eddie and Ellie were a long-standing supporters and members of SWBG, present at its inaugural meeting, and they have continued to be key advisors to us throughout SWBGs existence. Eddie’s calm but proactive presence, deep wisdom and knowledge were a wonderful resource for us to turn to in challenging times. As a canoeist he helped us to organise an early celebration of the beavers in the Tay.

From his experience with Ellie in founding the exemplary wildlife charity Scottish Badgers, Eddie was often able to guide us through the choppy waters of wildlife advocacy in Scotland. He chaired our first SWBG conference with quiet authority and humour, helping to establish SWBG as a significant player and force to be reckoned with in the world of Scotland’s environmental charities.

Eddie will be hugely missed by us all and by the world of wildlife advocacy and education in Scotland We are all lucky that Ellie is determined to carry on the brilliant work that they started together and we look forward to working with her long into the future.
